Glens Falls Police Officer, Zachary Flewelling has been nominated as America's Most Wanted Allstar for 2010.  It is an award where emergency first responders are recognized for going above and beyond in their community and make a deep impression on someone's life.

Here is why he was nominated:

Officer Zach Flewelling knew since he was a kid that he wanted to help people, he first found his calling by serving in the U.S. Army and then by joining the City of Glens Falls Police Department in January 2006. While attending the Zone Five Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy he was selected to be the Class Leader. These qualities of servitude and leadership have been exemplified by Officer Flewelling as he reaches out to the community by speaking to Criminal Justice clubs in surrounding universities and high schools, instructing at the academy and while wearing a different uniform as a Drill Sergeant with the Army National Guard. There have been several occasions in 2009, while on patrol, he has responded to calls involving a subject known to have mental issues who was attempting to commit suicide and had been armed. Officer Flewelling utilized kindness and authority to successfully thwart the subject's goal to end his life and has helped him receive the care he needed. This man nominated the officer stating that Zach Flewelling is reason he is still alive today. Officer Flewelling had been on the force for a little over three years when he was honored by his department on April 30th, 2009 with the Meritorious Police Service Award, for the use of non-lethal force and strategy preventing harm and potential fatality to all involved during the capture of an armed wanted sex offender. He once again utilized his training, except on this occasion, when deadly physical force was justified he used his TASER to take the subject into custody without injury or additional confrontation

In addition to receiving the award, Officer Flewelling could win $10,000 and 1) two (2) admission tickets to the NASCAR SPRINT Cup Series™ All-Star Challenge on or about May 23, 2010 in Charlotte, North Carolina; 2) round-trip coach airfare for two (2) to Charlotte, North Carolina on dates selected by Sponsor; 3) hotel accommodations (a standard, single, double-occupancy room- room and room tax only) for 3 days/2 nights at a hotel to be selected by Sponsor; 3) non-exclusive ground transportation between the airport in Charlotte, North Carolina and the hotel and between the hotel and certain Challenge – or All-Star-related events to be selected by Sponsor; 4) a check made payable to All-Star Winner in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000); and 5) one (1) AMW varsity jacket.
