DO MOVIES CURE CHILDHOOD NOSTALGIA!?

I saw the article below and I do agree that watching films from my childhood cures nostalgia. Yes, some of these film I've seen and currently own on DVD, but I have curated my own list below from my childhood. Every time, I re-watch the films below, I'm instantly transported back to my childhood. Does re-watching films you experienced in your childhood cure your nostalgia, comment and let me know.

1. Once Upon A Time In The West (1968): I was only seven when I watched this. I remember being being in awe (and still am whenever I re-watch). More importantly, I watched this for the first time with grandmother. Even though we watched it on cable TV, I remember both of us staying up past midnight watching this masterpiece.

2. The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly (1966): Yes another Sergio Leone masterpiece shows up. Again, I was seven years old and my father rented this for me. He made a mistake, he confused this with another Clint Eastwood western. My father didn't think I'd enjoy a film that ran almost three hours, well I used to watch this film on a daily basis and drove my parents nuts with this & other Leone classics.

3. The Searchers (1956): This is another western that I discovered when I was seven years old. My parents allowed me to record movies off the TV onto a blank VHS tape (My generations DVR LOL). This was another film I watched over & over & over again (Still do to this very day).

4. Planet Of The Apes (1968): I really became a Charlton Heston fan and sought out all of his films after I saw this sci-fi classic. My mom rolls her eyes to this day whenever I bring up this movie or one of Leone's westerns because they were on constant rotation whenever my parents let me control one of the TVs.

5. Godzilla movies: Even before the Leone, Heston craze of my sevens and eights, I was a huge monster movie fan. It started with Godzilla, The King Of The Monsters (yes the cheesy Godzilla 1954 American re-edit with Raymond Burr) and continued with "King Kong vs. Godzilla" & "Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster" (American dub prints botched the spelling and labeled it: "Ghidrah".) I still have the Godzilla figurine my parents gave me for Christmas in 1985!

6. King Kong (1933): After The Godzilla obsession, I sought out "King Kong" and watched this masterpiece constantly from the age of six through today!

7. Lawrence of Arabia (1962): After watching epics like "The Ten Commandments" & "Ben-Hur" hundreds of times, I was curious about "Lawrence Of Arabia". My father was hesitant, saying there wasn't as much action as there was in those "biblical epics". So, my father rented it for me when I was nine and WOW! I believe I rented it a few more times before my parents bought me the two tape VHS for Christmas of 1989!

8. Metropolis (1927): By the age of ten, the only silent film I constantly watched was the 1925 version of Ben-Hur! I'd watch it several times to compare it to the 1959 version. Imagine my amazement when I turned on the TV early one Sunday morning and accidently stumbled upon Fritz Lang's epic 1927 sci-fi masterpiece, "Metropolis"! I was in awe and wasn't sure what I was watching, but instantly became a fan! I still am awe struck when I re-visit this film to this day.

9. "The Godfather" (1972): My dad wasn't thrilled when I snuck this into the house at first. I mean a ten year old watching "The Godfather" without having their parents present didn't sit well with my parents but especially my father.

10. "Goodfellas" (1990): When I saw "Goodfellas" being advertised, I was curious. My father didn't want me to watch it. But I have seen "The Godfather"! My dad replied: "Goodfellas makes "The Godfather" look like a boy scout movie"! Well, I bought the used copy of the VHS to celebrate me graduating from the 8th grade. My father saw the VHS in my room and took it. he wasn't happy! A few weeks later, I sat down and watched "Goodfellas" with my parents and I became hooked on Martin Scorsese cinema!

I also discovered James Bond movies, E.T., "Willow"(A film that I saw after reading the book and collecting all the merch. When I saw it, I kinda liked it but was let down. I think I overhyped the movie in my mind), "The Wizard Of Oz", "Star Wars" (I saw "Empire Strikes Back" first), etc. in my childhood.

These are the films that shaped me and bring back tons of nostalgia whenever I watch them!
