Police evacuated a number of people who were in danger
New body cam footage shows the dramatic moments New York State Troopers ran into a burning building on Madison Avenue just after Albany’s July 4th fireworks show.
Around 10 p.m., Troopers working the near the Empire State Plaza were called to a disturbance a few blocks up Madison Avenue. Moments later, reports of a fire and a shooting came over the radio.
Police arrived to find the building in flames and immediately entered, clearing a basement apartment and searching the upper floor to make sure no one was trapped.
They then moved into the attached brownstone, rescuing an elderly woman and helping another resident save a dog.
Troopers also assisted Albany Police in providing emergency care to the shooting victims.
The newly released body cam video captures the heroic efforts made to get everyone out safely. Watch below.
