The man apparently fell from a scaffold

A worker with the New York State Canal Corporation was hurt Wednesday morning after falling into the empty basin of Erie Canal Lock 5 in Waterford.
News 10 says the accident happened around 9 a.m. while the worker was on scaffolding for a maintenance project. Officials say the worker fell about 10 feet and was taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries hasn’t been confirmed yet.
The Canal Corporation is looking into what caused the fall.
