Proctors Theatre in Schenectady is marking Black History Month with a special movie series that brings influential Black stories to the big screen throughout February. The series began yesterday with a complimentary showing of the documentary Summer of Soul (2021), celebrating music, culture, and history. Upcoming screenings include Disney and Pixar’s Soul on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m., along with additional films scheduled for Thursday nights throughout February including Crooklyn and Dave Chappelle’s Block Party. Presented in the GE Theatre, the lineup spans animation, drama, and documentary storytelling, offering audiences of all ages a chance to reflect on Black creativity, perseverance, and impact while enjoying a shared cinematic experience.
