Proctors is about to turn 100, and the celebration is officially underway.

The historic Schenectady theatre kicked off its centennial season Tuesday by unveiling a brand-new marquee inside the Proctors Arcade and announcing that Sara Bareilles will headline its 100th anniversary gala next March.

Sara Bareilles Headlines the Centennial Gala

The Proctors Centennial Celebration Gala is set for Thursday, March 4, with Bareilles performing on the MainStage. She’s a two-time Grammy winner and three-time Tony nominee, known for hits like “Love Song,” “Brave,” and “King of Anything.” She also wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway musical “Waitress,” which is coming back to the Proctors MainStage a few weeks after the gala.

The gala is a building-wide event. The night starts with a pre-party in Key Hall with food, drinks, and special experiences, then moves to the MainStage for Bareilles’ performance, and wraps up with an after-party in the GE Theatre.

A New Marquee for a New Century

If you’ve walked through the Proctors Arcade on your way to a show, you’ll notice something new. The theatre unveiled a new marquee inside the Arcade, made possible by GNH Lumber & Home and the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority. Proctors says the marquee is meant to honor the theatre’s history in downtown Schenectady while looking ahead to its next 100 years.

100 Years of Shows

Proctors first opened its doors on Dec. 27, 1926, as a silent movie and vaudeville house. A century later, it’s one of the biggest performing arts destinations in the Northeast, bringing in Broadway tours, concerts, comedy, film, and community events.

The Season Starts With “BOOP!”

The anniversary season kicks off onstage with “BOOP! The Musical,” the first show of the 2026-27 KeyBank Broadway Subscription Series. It runs now through Sunday, Oct. 18.

Proctors says there will be more special events, performances, and experiences throughout the anniversary season. The 100th anniversary season is sponsored by Fenimore Asset Management.
