53 years ago this week back in 1971...The Rolling Stones anthology album "Stone Age" was released by Decca Records in the UK over the objections of The Rolling Stones! The songs on the record were either hit singles by The Rolling Stones which hadn't been released on a previous album from The Rolling Stones or they were songs by The Rolling Stones that had previously been released in The U.S. but not in the UK...The Rolling Stones felt so strongly against the release of the record...That they even ran some full page "attack" ads against the release of the record in various publications in the UK...which stated..."Beware! We didn't know this record was going to be released. It is in our opinion below the standard we try to keep up both in choice of content and cover design". That being said...It went to #4 on The UK Album Chart at the time and it does contain some of The Rolling Stone's early classic songs...including "It's All Over Now"..."As Tears Go By"..."Paint It Black" and "The Last Time"...
The Rolling Stones album that you have probably never heard....
