The non-profit is the first in the Capital Region.
Bargain Grocery, a non-profit store that provides grocery products at low prices, officially opened its doors in Troy on Friday. Founder and CEO Pastor Michael Servello says the store aims to provide affordable groceries, with prices up to 30% lower than big-box stores, to help those most in need. He tells News 10:
It feels really good. Like I said, it’s missional. We are about helping the people who need it the most. Our whole vision has been going to the most desperate.
The store offers a wide variety of essentials, including fresh produce, dairy, meat, frozen foods, and non-perishable items. Bargain Grocery has one other store in Utica. The new store in Troy is located at 558 River Street and is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
